New Social Networking Sites List

As of now I am trying to come up with a good list of Social Networking websites, it may be a little lonely at the moment though… Don't fret because before the end of the week I will be able to present you people with a great list of these sites here, so don't forget to keep coming back and see my progress.

So what exactly is social networking or a social network for that matter? According to Wikipedia: A social network is a social structure made of nodes which are generally individuals or organizations. It indicates the ways in which they are connected through various social familiarities ranging from casual acquaintance to close familial bonds. The term was first coined in 1954 by J. A. Barnes (in: Class and Committees in a Norwegian Island Parish, "Human Relations"). The maximum size of social networks tends to be around 150 people and the average size around 124 (Hill and Dunbar, 2002).

So there you have it people, I am now faced with an incredible dilemma of having to choose from hundreds or maybe millions of sites that may fit the description above. If there are any kindhearted souls out there who can help me with this problem, I will be forever indebted to you…

  1. You should definitely add http://www.neighborwork.com to the list. It’s a great social networking site that allows members to connect with other neighbors in their area. It also has a town forum and lists of cool events & restaurants. It’s a great way to network with neighbors and find out what’s new in your neighborhood!

    Check it out!
